Coverage of Grade 7 Class

Grade 7 is the start of the junior high school and it will be a shift from your elementary days. The lessons will be done gradually so as not to culture shock some of you. For the first part we will have sets. There will be an introduction about sets.

Symbols involved and definition of terms like set, subset, elements, proper set, universal set, null set and cardinality of a set. There will be a detailed explanation and video tutorial on how to get the intersection and union of sets. And Venn diagram is also included. How to represent sets, intersection and union into a Venn Diagram.

After the discussion of sets fundamental operations on integers will be explained with video tutorials. The four operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

You will learn that there is a proper way of performing these operations by following the rule of Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication and Division from left to right, and addition and subtraction from left to right or what is famously known as PEMDAS.

Many students are getting incorrect results when they solve problems with several operations involved. They are at a lost as to what to perform first addition and subtraction or multiplication and division.

All About Fractions

This will then be followed by reducing fractions to their lowest terms. With written explanation and followed up by a detailed video tutorial about this topic.  In here you will learn about Greatest Common Factor or GCF and how to use it to reduce or simplify fractions.

Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions

This lesson will be followed by converting mixed numbers to improper fractions. Fractions are part of our everyday lives and it is a must that you know how to operate them like converting them from mixed numbers to improper fractions. Mixed numbers are whole numbers with fractions while improper fractions have their numerators larger than their denominators.

Improper Fractions to Mixed Numbers

After conversion of mixed numbers to improper fractions, the next topic will be the reverse and it is converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. We are going to change the improper fractions back to mixed numbers. This will be explained in details as you watch video tutorials with several examples. The article in this topic will also guide you about the steps.

Addition and Subtraction of Similar Fractions

The next lesson is adding and subtracting similar fractions. Similar fractions are fractions whose denominators are the same. It is easier to add and subtract this type of fraction because all you need to do is add or subtract all the numerators and just copy the denominator.

Dissimilar to Similar Fractions

You will also know how to change dissimilar fractions to similar fractions. If similar fractions have the same denominators, dissimilar fractions have different denominators. Before you can add or subtract fractions their denominators have to be the same. In other words, they have to be similar fractions first.

There are several steps involve in changing fractions from dissimilar to similar and you will learn it all in this topic by watching a video tutorial and reading the article. It is explained clearly so you can understand it faster.

Addition and Subtraction of Dissimilar Fractions

Adding and Subtracting dissimilar fractions are next in line. As what I have said above, fractions can be added or subtracted if they have similar denominators. In this lesson, you will add or subtract dissimilar fractions but it will be discussed in detail. The step involved in changing dissimilar fractions to similar is getting their Lowest Common Denominator (LCD) first before you can proceed directly to adding or subtracting.

Addition and Subtraction of Mixed Numbers

This topic will be followed by adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Again mixed numbers are whole numbers with fractions. This lesson will show to you how to add and subtract whole numbers together with their fractional parts.

Multiplication of Fractions

We will then proceed to the topic of multiplication of fractions. Here you will know that in multiplying fractions, all you have to do is to multiply all the numerators, and also multiply all the denominators.

Division of Fractions

Next topic is the division of fractions. This will explain that dividing fractions means that you multiply the dividend by the inverse of the divisor.  This will be explained clearly and in detail by both the written article and the video tutorial.

In watching the video tutorial you have to watch them from start to finish because the problems are organized from simple to difficult.

Rational Numbers

Adding and Subtracting Rational Numbers in Decimal Form

The next topic is about adding and subtracting rational numbers in decimal form. Here it will be explained that decimal numbers have to be arranged in column and that the decimal points should be aligned in order to get the correct answers.

Multiplication of Decimal Numbers

This will be followed by multiplication of rational numbers in decimal form. Multiplication of decimals will be explained again clearly by the video tutorial. There are also exercises you can practice with to hone your knowledge and skills.

Properties of Rational Numbers

Properties of Rational numbers are the next topic to be discussed. Principal Roots and Irrational Numbers will follow the previous topic. Here you will know the difference between rational and irrational numbers.

It will also be discussed how to know if the principal root is rational or irrational. Following this topic is the absolute value of a number.

Absolute Value

You will be able to learn how to get the absolute value of a number or expressions. This will then be followed by the subsets of real numbers. Here you will describe and illustrate the number system. It will be discussed to you what are the hierarchy chart of the set of real numbers.

Significant Digits and Scientific Notation

Significant Digits and the Scientific Notation is the next topic. There are rules to follow in determining the significant figures and it will be discussed in this lesson. Converting numbers to scientific notations will also be explained by the article and video tutorials.

Units of Length

And do not forget to perform exercises as it will let you practice your problem solving skills. The next lesson will be about measurement and measuring length. Here you will know how to convert to the different units of length and distance. You will convert from English to SI units and vice versa.

And there will be more as our lesson progresses. It will be an awesome experience for you and you will learn more.
